Your information, explained

Nod Squad privacy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Nod Squad doesn't collect personal information. There are no accounts, ads or tracking. The app has one optional setting, "Share anonymous usage counts". It's off unless you turn it on in Settings, after a quick check. While it's off, the app sends nothing. Everything else the app saves stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

Camera and microphone

During a round, Nod Squad can use your camera and microphone to record your friends' reactions for replay. Recording happens on your device. Turn it off with Settings → Record reaction clip.

Microphone permission is optional. Without it, the app can record a silent reaction clip when camera access is allowed.

Reaction clips and retention

Reaction clips are kept in the app's temporary storage on your device and are not uploaded to Freshpath Studio. Cleanup runs when the app launches and when a new round starts. It keeps the five most recent clips and removes clips older than 24 hours, except a clip protected while it is being shown, shared or saved.

A clip you explicitly save to Photos is a separate copy. The app's temporary-clip cleanup does not delete that Photos copy.

Leaderboard and crew snapshots

Scores and a still picture from each round's clip are stored on your device for the leaderboard. Clear them with Settings → Clear leaderboard. The crew snapshots are separate from the temporary reaction clips.

Photos and motion permissions

Photos access is add-only and is used when you tap Save to put a clip in your photo library. The app cannot read your existing photos.

Motion sensors detect when you nod or tip the phone. Motion readings are processed on your device and are not stored or sent elsewhere.

Decks, settings and play history

Decks you create, including their names and clues, are stored on your device. The app also stores your settings, played clues, free samples used and unlocked decks locally so it can remember your choices and avoid repeating clues.

Information we collect

By default, nothing. If you turn on Settings → Share anonymous usage counts, the app sends simple counts of how it is used, so we can tell which decks and features people enjoy. These counts are used only for analytics. When it's off, nothing is sent. Each count contains only the app version, the type of event, and at most one fixed label from a short list we define. These are:

  • the app was opened
  • a round started (the deck, team or solo)
  • a round finished (the deck, a rough range of cards played, a rough range of correct guesses)
  • a deck's unlock screen was viewed (the deck)
  • a purchase was completed (which deck product)
  • a clip was saved to Photos
  • the rating option was used.

The counts never include your name, an account, a device or advertising identifier, your location, anything you typed (like your own decks), or any clip, photo, camera or microphone content. We keep only daily totals, for up to 24 months, then delete them. Each total records only the day, app, version, event, label and count. Counts are processed on Cloudflare's infrastructure (our service provider). Your IP address is seen briefly by our network provider to deliver the request but is not stored with these counts. Counts can't be linked to you or your device, and they aren't used for advertising or shared with data brokers. You can turn this off any time in Settings. Turning it off stops all sending immediately, and nothing is saved up to send later. On the App Store this appears as Product Interaction and Purchase History, not linked to you and not used for tracking.

Apple purchases and ratings

Apple handles deck purchases through the App Store. Freshpath Studio does not receive your payment details or Apple Account information. The app asks Apple which decks you own so it can unlock and restore them.

The app may display Apple's standard rating prompt. Any rating you leave goes to Apple. Apple's privacy policy is available at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Sharing

When you tap Share, the standard iPhone share sheet opens. You choose where a clip or score goes, such as Messages or AirDrop. The receiving app, service or person then handles the copy you shared.

Contacting us

If you email nodsquad@freshpathstudio.com, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to reply, and you can ask us to delete your support emails.

Children

The app does not collect personal information from children or other players. Purchases use Apple's standard App Store controls, including Ask to Buy and Screen Time where configured.

Nod Squad is a party game for a general audience and isn't in the App Store's Kids category. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, and we don't knowingly collect it from children under 13. Usage counts are off by default, contain no names or identifiers, and ask for a quick check before they can be turned on.

Your choices

  • Turn off reaction recording in the app or deny Camera or Microphone permission in your iPhone's Settings.
  • Use Settings → Clear leaderboard to remove scores and crew snapshots.
  • Deleting the app removes its local settings, custom decks, leaderboard and cached clips from your device. Clips you saved to Photos stay in Photos.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, we will update this page before the change ships.
