Your fridge and recipes
The app saves your ingredient selection, personal recipes, preferences and Recipe Box on your iPhone. When you request an AI recipe, the selected ingredients and cooking preferences are sent through Freshpath's service to OpenAI. Recipe details are also used to generate an illustrative dish image. The app asks for agreement before its AI recipe feature is first used.
Our service stores recipe requests, generated results, request status and allowance records so you can reopen completed recipes and so the service can handle retries and usage limits.
Photos and camera access
Camera permission lets you take a fridge photo or scan a package barcode. You can also choose a photo through the system photo picker. Camera access can be changed in iPhone Settings.
The photo-recognition feature asks for agreement before sending photos through Freshpath's service to OpenAI. The app resizes and re-encodes a selected image without its original EXIF or GPS metadata. You review the detected foods before adding them to your fridge.
The scan service processes the submitted photo in memory and stores a photo fingerprint, the detected food list, request status and usage records. It does not save the submitted photo in its scan database. OpenAI's separate data controls and safety-retention rules apply to data it receives; disabling response storage does not mean that a provider retains no data.
OpenAI explains its API data controls at https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/your-data.
Package lookups
Scanning or entering a package barcode sends its code to Open Food Facts to look up the product. Open Food Facts also receives ordinary network connection information. You can add ingredients by name instead.
Beta access and service activity
The beta uses an installation credential stored in your iPhone's Keychain and service-side records to authorize access. The service stores credential hashes rather than the original pairing credentials.
The app sends first-party activity records to Freshpath's service, including app opens, recipes saved or cooked, recipe ratings, recipe-card creation and counts of scan corrections. Records can include an installation identifier, app version, recipe identifier and title, rating, scan identifier and counts of foods kept, edited, removed or added. We use these records to understand beta use, diagnose problems and improve the service. This is separate from advertising tracking.
The beta backend is hosted on Render. Hosting and AI providers process information needed to deliver their services, and ordinary network or security logs may be handled by those providers.
Render's privacy policy is available at https://render.com/privacy.
Community and sharing
If you join the community, the service stores your chosen display name and the recipes, dish images and comments you publish. Other community members can see shared content. Reports, blocks and moderation records are also stored so the community can be managed.
Removing a post or comment hides it from the community; the service retains the stored record. A recipe someone already saved to a personal Recipe Box can remain in their copy. Using the iPhone share sheet sends a file only to the destination you choose.
Retention and your choices
The current beta has no automatic expiry for recipe requests and results, scan records, activity records, community records or database backups. They remain stored unless manually removed. Removing the app, revoking beta access or deleting a recipe from your personal Recipe Box does not erase those service records or backups. Original photo submissions have the different handling described above.
There is no in-app control for deleting all records associated with your beta connection. To ask about stored information or request access, correction or deletion, email apps@freshpathstudio.com. Requests need to be reviewed manually, including which records and backup copies are involved. Do not send your beta pairing code or installation credentials.
You can choose not to use photo recognition, enter ingredients manually, and choose whether to publish community content.
