Proof of Santa privacy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Proof of Santa: Caught on Cam is made by Freshpath Studio. This page explains how the app handles your photos and information.

No accounts, advertising or tracking

Proof of Santa has no account, no advertising and no tracking, and your photos and clips are never uploaded to us. The only thing the app can send is anonymous usage counts, which show how often features like adding a photo, choosing a visitor or making a clip are used. They're off by default, and only a parent can turn them on or off, in Settings > Share anonymous usage counts, behind the parental check. When they're off, the app sends nothing. See "Anonymous usage counts" below.

Anonymous usage counts

To learn which features people use, a parent can choose to let the app send anonymous counts of a few actions: opening the app, adding a room photo, choosing a visitor, making a clip, saving to Photos, opening Share, and a clip failing to render. These counts never include your photos, clips, device ID or anything else that identifies you or anyone in your photos, and they aren't linked to you or used for tracking or ads. They go to our own server, run on Cloudflare. Your IP address is seen briefly by our network provider to deliver the request but is not stored with these counts. We keep only daily totals, for up to 24 months, then delete them. This is off by default. A parent can turn it on or off anytime in Settings > Share anonymous usage counts, which is behind a parental check; when it's off, nothing is sent.

Your photos are never uploaded to us.

Photos you take or choose are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us. Finished photos and clips are saved only to your own photo library, and only when you tap Save. If you share one, it goes only where you choose to send it.

The app creates a temporary video file on your device when it renders a clip. Rendering another clip replaces that temporary file. This is separate from copies you save to Photos or share.

Camera and Photos permissions

The camera is used to photograph your room. To choose an existing image, the app uses Apple's photo picker, which provides only the photo you select.

Photos permission is add-only and is used to save your finished photos and clips. It does not give the app permission to browse your existing photo library.

Information kept on your iPhone

The app remembers local preferences, including sounds, the label on your footage and whether you have seen introductory tips. It also keeps a tally of saved photos to decide when to show Apple's standard rating prompt. These preferences and on-device tallies are stored only on your iPhone and are never sent to us. They're separate from the anonymous usage counts described above.

Sharing and Apple services

When you share a photo or clip, Apple's share sheet lets you choose a destination. The receiving app or service handles that shared copy under its own privacy practices.

App Store purchases and ratings are handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy is available at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Children

Proof of Santa doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect it. The optional usage counts contain no names, photos, device IDs or other identifiers, and only a parent can turn them on, behind the parental check in Settings. Links that leave the app (our website, email and this policy) are behind the same parental check. The app has no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
